Well, happy Summer people!
... Turn signals... After "googleing" when electric turn signals were invented/ introduced to the american public.
"Buick introduced the first electric turn signals in 1938".
Every human who drives, weather in the United States or abroad, should know better! especially since you need to show that you actually know the hand signals for your drivers test!
Here is my story. Saturday, my DH talked me into heading to his fathers for the nite. It is about a 60 mile give or take a few clicks either way. This is usually not an issue, happy to head to a part of the area where there are few neighbors, elk and bunnies wander freely and you know that at one point during the visit you will get to see several eagles in flight. That with the addition, of visiting with the Father in Law is always a good choice.
We are buckled, Iced tea and Coke, some classic rock- n- roll on the radio, the Dog has settled into drive mode, fanny wedged firmly between my hip and the door, front paws at 10 and 2 ( aka either side of my right knee) perched perfectly so she can arrive literally, a nose before we do at our intended destination!
As my GPS reads it is 400 feet from my parking spot to the first left hand turn on our trip, We advanced to the stop sign, left turn signal is on.. wait for traffic to clear,,,. should be easy to make this left turn.. we are in the middle of the intersection now taking our left and the POS black import hooks a right out of the coffee stand, and proceeds to cross three lanes of traffic, to take a left, right down the street we are coming from.. we slam on our breaks, she keeps going,,,, I notice that said driver of POS is reclined so far back that if she was sitting up straight she would maybe be able to see OVER the steering wheel, but that would be impossible for her to because...!!!! she has her head LYING on the window , which has been rolled down... Now here is my next question she is in a 20 year old POS we are in a 2007 Chevy Silverado 2500 3/4 ton 4 door pick up, with canopy!! Its Sunny and we just got a wax job.. SUPER HARD TO MISS.. yeah she did.. URGHH..
We next hop onto I-5 South... always a joy on a sunny day regardless of a weekday or weekend, day, we are now 6 miles from our home.. and enter the Mercedes SUV,, yes I am singleing this one out, 'why you may ask?? it has the paper license plate in the window so you can;'t miss that it is new, It is speeding down the hiway, we are next to the HOV lane,, It scoots past us,, on the left, cuts off the driver ahead of us and then proceeds to cross 3 more lanes of traffic in about 3 seconds..okay maybe 5, regardless, to get into the exit lane,, promptly cuts off a RV hauling a boat, and then realizes he could possbily hit the person in front of him,, so he slams on his breaks.. oblivious to the RV with boat behind him,, now fishtailing to avoid a collision.. The Irony is that he passed another brand new Mercedes SUV., same make just different model,, Whos driver shared the single finger salute. And several others join in with him..
We now have made it to North Renton.. around 20 miles from home. There Is a slow down on the Kenneydale hill. nothing new on this strech of road.. it's always slow.. enter White Explorer.. it apparently has a flat tire.. and we just cant fathum why folks stopping and going around this guy.. we soon find out why.. Mr. Explorer has managed to forget to turn on his emergency flashers and has also managed to park his beloved SUV with the drivers side tires about 8 inches on the road FULL of traffic, headed southbound on 405 OMGoodness... really? what a moron..
All sorts of stupid on the road.. Now we have made it to 169 only about 15 miles to go.. thank goodness. We are at the light by the water park, another import POS is infront of us.. speed limit is 35.. we are going 25 thank goodness,, Mr POS import turns rt into the old bingo parlor then flips his turn signal on ( FINALLY SOME ONE USED THE SIGNAL) only to stop with the ass end of the POS in the lane infront of us,, How could this dumbass not see us? We avoided yet another collision and made it to the Father in Laws with out a scratch.
You may ask was DH speeding? that answer would be Nope! tailgating Nope! hands and 10 and 2 yup!
just another typicial day trying to navigate the roads..
It is just amazing that we all have to take the same drivers test, know what all the road signs mean, and folks continue to drive the way they feel fits their lives,, My guess would be by the seat of their pants. I will continue and the DH will continue to drive at 55-60 with our hands at 10 and 2, with the 5 second following rule and use the correct signals either with the switches our vehicles have come with or the hand signals that we are taught at such a young age.. We would want our moms to be proud and feel safe in the car with us,,,don't you?
crap now we have to head home......

HALLOWEEN WEEK
The week of Halloween is always a busy one. Hunting for the hubby begins, There is a birthday party, and then there is the Halloween Party.
They all run together and then bam within 1 week it all happens. This years party was fun, quieter than usual but entertaining as always.
There were Nuns, A couple of Hugh Heffners, A pirate, a wench, and the crew from Gilligans Island.
Karoke was the main entertainment for the evening, Singing till we lost our voices. laughing until our faces and cheeks hurt. As we left for the nite the crew from Gilligans Island was attempting to slide down the slide in the back yard. I hope the slide survived

The day after
Well Last nite the " windstrom" came through this area. 30-50 mph wind, rain. more wind. I noticed it was bad.. how was this possible? Well aside from the whole day being outta wack, not only were there ash trees blown over, but also blossoming cherry trees. those things are pretty stout, not yesterday.
This morning when I assessed the entire yard. I found that my back yard now is covered by about an inch of leaves. The front yard fine, but the wind was so strong it bent my Flag pole.
My beloved American flag was hanging on my rose bush and the the free end of it was laying on the ground. Since it is one of those poles you can take apart, I was able to get the flag off. (Probably give it to the Boy Scouts to burn next memorial day at their annual event.) The pole how ever is stuck, it will be a chore to remove the pole. There is aways next Summer to start over... New Flag New Pole.
With this storm, make me think Winter is going to be a hard one. There is already some snow in the mountains.....
